There seems to be an unending number of deer that come right up to the house and are seemingly fearless. I have a beautiful garden of perennials that I have spent years cultivating. Should I just leave them and forget having a lovely flower garden given the deer population?

Answer: Remember deer will eat just about anything if hungry enough. That said, the list enclosed is the most Deer Proof plants known to us.

Below is a recipe for a deer repellant. There is not guarantee for this recipe, but some Master Gardeners have had success with it.

Organic Deer Repellant Recipe

Mix in a blender:

· 1 cup water

· 3 eggs (you can use egg beaters)

· 1/3 cup Tabasco sauce

· 1/3 cup liquid dishwasher soap

Pour into a gallon tank sprayer and fill with water. Spray thoroughly.

As an additional deterrent, you may add a cube of beef bouillon (since deer do not like meat) but this is not usually necessary.

This mixture does not hurt plants. Be sure to wear gloves and keep it out of your eyes when applying this mixture.
