What is causing brown spots on my coleus? Coleuses are wonderful annuals for Parker County with their colorful foliage, tolerance of summer heat and ease of propagation. They like shade from the afternoon Texas sun and even moisture but not constantly wet feet.
They are very hardy with almost no problems. If the brown spots are on the edges of the leaves this might indicate sun scorch or lack of moisture. If the spots are on the tops of the leaves, you need to check how they are receiving water, do water droplets collect on the leaves and does the sun then hit them? If this is the case, the leaves can be spotted or bleached and you need to water them at ground level and not from above. Also, be sure to pinch the nondescript flowers from the plants to keep them more lush.
