Turk’s Cap Malvarviscus arboreus

Grows in sun or shade, deciduous. Mature size 5’x5′. Blooms summer to fall in red, pink, and white. Cut to the ground in early spring. Deer and grasshopper resistant. Low water requirement. Dies to the ground in winter then comes back in spring. Fertilize lightly with balanced fertilizer such as 12-12-12 monthly during growing season. 

Root divisions can be taken in late winter. No major insect or disease problems.
Comments: Bushy, shrub-like growth spreads easily from self-propagation. Great flowering plants for shady areas. Attracts Cloudless Sulphur and Gulf Fritillary butterflies.
