Master Gardener

Located off Old Annetta Road at 102 Robinson Court, The Aledo Community Center and Park  is a beautiful place to visit and enjoy nature. It features a concrete-paved walking trail, large playground, volleyball area, covered pavilion, picnic tables, gardens, green space and miles of bicycle /walking trails around the area. The Parker County Master Gardeners maintain the gardens. You can see diverse kinds of plants and flowers in the six flowerbeds, such as perennials, annuals, and shrubs. There is also a horse trough with opuntia, better known as prickly pear, near the main road. The gardens have various features like berms, arbors, and trellises, as well as decorative boulders and ground cover.

The park’s walking trail goes through the trees and the gardens. You can find cedar elms, pecan, red oaks, chinquapin oaks, Ashe juniper, Mexican plum, live oaks, Golden raintree, and vitex trees along the trail. The trail is a wonderful way to exercise and relax.

The community center is a spacious building that can be rented for different events, such as weddings, reunions, meetings, and parties. It has Chinese photinia, crape myrtle, abelia, pomegranate and holly shrubs around it. In the back of the building, there are swings, slides, and children’s decorative horses for fun.

The PCMGA gardeners work hard to keep the beds in attractive shape. They meet twice a month on Wednesday mornings to take care of the plants and flowers. They are always happy to share their knowledge and passion for gardening with visitors.
