These are some of our ongoing projects:

What are the best shrubs for Parker County?  You will hear the terms native or adapted when recommended plants are being discussed and these plants can be among the best for your Parker County garden. You need to know the size of the mature shrub, the light and moisture requirements and the look you want to achieve.

Having polled some Parker County Master Gardeners, the following are some of the favorites:

Hollies:  Nellie R. Stevens, Yaupon, Weeping Yaupon, Possumhaw, and Mary Nell
Hydrangeas:  Oak leaf and Annabelle
Cotoneaster:  Glaucophylla and Horizontalis
Pomegranate:  Wonderful and Chico
Others include:  Crepe myrtle, Loropetalum, Nandinas, Wax myrtle, Texas sage (green cloud), Vitex, Coralberry, Cleyera, Winter Honeysuckle, Mock Orange, Rusty blackhaw, Beauty berry, Carolina buckthorn, Salvia greggii
